I was the oldest of five children. My mother forced me to start cooking to help feed them. I had a grandmother who showed me how to cook, and a grandfather who worked as a cook all his life and also showed me how to cook growing up. My father was in the Air Force, and I learned from a host of people how to cook different dishes, including how to decorate cakes. I decorated cakes for a year until it started interfering with my schoolwork. I later determined that I wanted to be a caterer after
The catering started after I took dishes to family and friends' homes; later, they asked me to provide dishes and pay me for them. I left my job with the County of Los Angeles to start my catering company. I would prepare meals on Saturdays and take them to beauty salons. The Film Festival in 1993 was my first major client, and I catered food for the staff and volunteers, a service that I still provide nowadays! My work is displayed on their website as the "In-House Caterer."
In 1995, I named my Catering Company, MyDay Catering in honor of my two children, My - for my son Myles and Day - for my daughter Dana. At this time, I took a chocolate making class as a dare and added chocolates to my menu of services. I have experience catering for many movies, videos, and celebrities, The Black Business Expo Food Court, Steve Harvey's "Big Time" craft services. I believe my secret is that I always cook and serve with LOVE!
